Waste Energy - Tim Kyle Electric, Heating & Cooling

Does Your Business Waste Energy?

If you’re a business owner, then you are obviously invested in the finances and costs associated with your business. Even if you’re just an office manager, it’s likely your responsibility to keep things running smoothly. Unfortunately, there may be some big expenses that you don’t know about, and it all comes with the way that businesses can waste energy.

How to Waste Less Energy in the Office

“We use energy every day without fully comprehending our actual needs.” Our resources are depleting even as we speak, though we don’t talk about it often enough. If you’ve even just interested in saving money, then you should work to implement some of the following so that your business or office are no longer guilty of wasting huge amounts of energy.

One report says that “commercial buildings account for almost 20% of U.S. energy consumption.” That’s nearly a fifth of all energy use in the United States, attributed to businesses. Of course, commercial buildings aren’t the only places that have been known to waste energy, but this is certainly one area that we could all do better in by reducing some of many wasteful habits. Heating and cooling is one of the bigger areas associated with this, since people often request big fluctuations in air conditioning and heat depending on the day… or the hour. Doing things like regularly changing the air filter and regulating the temperature when everyone is gone will help to reduce this overuse.

Similarly, lighting within offices is left on more often than not. Consider instead automatic, or even motion-activated lights, which go on and off at certain times of the day. Most of the fixtures are likely carrying outdated bulbs, too, so consider the move to LED bulbs so that you can save big in energy use and in cost for your bills (since, if you waste energy less, you will pay less, too).

There are a lot of little steps that you and those who work with you can take in order to use less power every day. If you want more information about practices that can help to cut down your energy bill, then get in touch with Tim Kyle Electric, Heating & Cooling. You can talk to an expert about new installations of lighting and wiring, among other things, for your home or business.
